Prudence

Prudence was my first American Bulldog; I obtained her from Shaun Barker. Her parents were bred from stock imported from Don Matthews’ Konfederate Kennels in Florida. Prudence was double-bred Little's Brittany, meaning that Brittany was the mother of both her parents. Brittany was a “Southern White” bulldog descended from a line of old-style country bulldogs; she gets a mention in Dave Putnam’s book "The Working American Bulldog", as does Prudence’s grandfather Jackson. Brittany was imported to England whilst carrying Jackson’s pups. Prudence's father, Barker's Bull-Dozer ("Dozer"), was one of those pups born in the quarantine kennels. Prudence's mother “Lady” was a good-natured,  energetic, fun-loving bitch. Lady was sired by Freddie Kruegger son “Bull”.

Prudence was awarded a hip-score of 8 by the British Veterinary Association. She weighed around 35 kilos. She matured into a pretty bitch who performed well at the local dog-club obedience class, where she was a  popular dog.

Prudence's bloodlines worked out as 50% Southern White and approximately 30% Johnson and 20% Scott/Painter/Williamson etc. Prudence was ABA and NKC registered.
